Mother Nature can delay, but not silence the holiday spirit. A winter storm postponed the Dec. 22 Illuminate the Night Parade through downtown Belle Plaine, but on Thursday, Jan. 12, the community came out to enjoy the lighted parade featuring floats and vehicles from city staff, local businesses and public safety personnel, and Belle Plaine royalty.

The parade was brief, and took about five minutes to pass by a person, but brought excitement to the children along the parade route. Even the Grinch made an appearance.

The holidays may be over, but Belle Plaine has more fun winter activities planned. Check out the Independent’s Calendar of Events on Page 6 for some fun family-friendly activities.
